Career Wardrobe Offers 'Online' Makeover Event For Female Jobseekers

By Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Career Wardrobe is a non-profit that helps women give good first impressions when looking for jobs by providing professional suits and makeovers. Now, they're expanding their efforts online.

"We have created what we are calling, our virtual first impression," says Career Wardrobe executive director Sheri Cole.

Cole says social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn provide new opportunities for women seeking work to boost their professional image. But it can also hurt their image, so Cole says they're helping 30 women through a new program called Work It!

"The women who are selected will get a full day of makeovers and coaching. And we'll help them put together their LinkedIn profiles if they don't have one, and if they do, we'll help them perfect it. Really today, your LinkedIn profile is your living breathing resume," says Cole.

Unemployed women who want to participate in Work It can apply online at www.CareerWardrobe.org/WorkIt. Deadline is Monday.
