Philadelphia Museum Of Art Unveils Nearly 2 Year Long Renovation Project
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A major transformation comes to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
After a nearly two year renovation, the museum is reopening its galleries of South East Asian art.
"Many of the pieces have been here for well over 100 years. Many have come to us literally in time for this transformation."
Statues of Indian Gods, and tapestry from a multitude of countries now adorn the museums halls.
Darielle Mason with the Philadelphia Museum of Art says the exhibition gives people a chance to learn about areas of the world that may be unfamiliar to them.
And it also show them how those areas may be relevant in their lives.
Pia Roy Chowdhury, the chair of the south east Asian advisory committee says the added artwork and redesign of the exhibit is a dream come true for her.
"People from all walks of life and different communities can come and learn about another country and another culture, but more importantly understand that it is all so reachable."
The gallery opens to the public Sunday, October 2nd.
