Philadelphia Museum Of Art Receives Significant Contemporary Art Gift

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Museum of Art has recently acquired a new batch of contemporary art pieces.
Carlos Basualdo, senior curator of contemporary art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art says this year the museum received a significant gift of works to their collection.
"It's a very important gift, it's 97 works and the collectors are Keith and Kathy Sachs. They are longtime art collectors. I would say they are benefactors of the arts, they have been for a very long time very mindful of the arts in Philadelphia, especially dedicated to contemporary art," Basualdo said.
(Kuznits:) "This is a pretty significant gift, it's not the type of thing that you get every year."
"Well I think that this is not the type of thing that we get every decade!" Basualdo said.

The gift contains works by artists such as Jasper Johns and Elsworth Kelly, ranging from the 1950's to present day. Some of the pieces are on display now. Baualdo says a complete exhibit of the gift will be curated in 2016.
