Philadelphia Man Gets Prison For Online Blackmail

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — A Philadelphia man who blackmailed a New Jersey man who responded to his online ad seeking sex is going to prison.

A judge in Burlington County, New Jersey, has sentenced 43-year-old Steven Beisher to five years behind bars and ordered him to pay restitution to the victim.

Prosecutors say the victim sent a naked picture of himself to an ad for homosexual sex that Beisher had posted on Craigslist in 2012. Authorities say Beisher contacted the man the next day and threatened to expose him to his wife and family if he didn't pay him money.

Authorities say Beisher extorted $1,950 over nine days before the man reported him to police.
