Philadelphia Jobs Report: Growth In Jobs With Non-Profit Organizations Expected To Continue
Jill Schlesinger reports nonprofits accounted for 11.4 million jobs in 2012, the most recent year figures are available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That's a big chunk of private sector employment, 10.3 percent. These jobs grew steadily during the recession and that growth is expected to continue. The BLS predicts the hiring of social and community service managers will climb 21 percent between now and 2022.
