Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival Kicks Off This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The two-week Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival is one of longest running series of its kind in the U.S., and it returns this weekend.

"Because its our 35th anniversary we just have so much more to offer," says Olivia Ansis -- chair of the Festival.

This season includes 21 films, nine shorts, more than 30 special guests and a half-dozen special events. It all begins Saturday night at the Gershman Y with the British dramedy Dough where a muslim refugee helps an aging Jewish baker save his business.

Other highlights include Imber's Right Hand documenting the final months of a Jewish painter stricken with ALS, and Brundibar about the performances of the opera by Jewish children at a concentration camp.

"Festivals keep the art of cinema alive," says Ansis.

The festival runs November 7th to the 14th.
