Philadelphia Honey Festival Is The Place To Bee This Weekend

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Honey Festival is this weekend with three days of events at three locations - Friday at the Wagner Free Institute of Science, Saturday at the Wyck Historic House, Garden and Farm and Sunday at Bartram's Garden filled with free family fun all about bees, along with lots of honey-buzzed food and drinks to sample too.

Saturday's events from 10 am to 4 pm at the Wyck in Germantown include open-hive demonstrations (to see what bees do in there), author talks, kids games and crafts like beeswax candles, a Junior Beekeeper's panel, plus mead-making, and tasting and a homebrew contest!

Sunday at Bartram's Garden, also from 10 am to 4 pm, you can learn beekeeping 101, find out how you get the honey away from the bees, enjoy a honey-cooking contest, see a man wearing a beard made of bees, and shop the Bartram's Garden Fall Plant Sale too.
