PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Furniture Bank is now open in Kensington. It's a unique place where former homeless individuals can go to make their new house or apartment more of a home.

Organizations in the Philadelphia homeless services sector are among those behind The Furniture Bank including Pathways To Housing PA.

"So how this works is member agencies throughout the city there are organizations that work with people in need and those agencies become members of the furniture bank and they refer members to us," said Director of the Philadelphia Furniture Bank Tom Maroon.

Maroon says donations of furniture are always needed.

"People have furniture in their basements, they have furniture in their garages, they have furniture laying around and if they need space they can call us up and we will come get it."

And he says its tax deductible.
