Philadelphia Elementary School Students Challenge LeBron To Dunk Contest Vs. Their Teacher

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A phys ed teacher teacher from North Philly has got game when it comes to basketball, but his students want to know just how much game - so they've challenged him to a dunk contest with LeBron James. The burning question -- will LeBron take the challenge?

Hans Muller, 29, is a physical education teacher from Upper Moreland, Pa. The West Chester University grad is in his fifth year teaching children in grades kindergarten through fifth at Julia Ward Howe Elementary School.

"They're [the students] favorite thing is to see me dunk," Muller told CBSPhilly.com. "Sometimes I reward the class and dunk for them, and they pick a dunk they want me to try. They started asking, 'Are you better than LeBron?' They know LeBron is my favorite player, and I played along, 'Of course I'm better.'"

It was his young students who came up with the idea to challenge LeBron to a dunk contest at their school.

"One student said bring LeBron to the school," Muller continued. "I thought it was crazy at first."

After talking with his wife Jessica and brother Von, Muller thought it would be cool to give it a shot at least.

"Originally I wrote a letter to the Miami Heat," Muller said. "That never works, so I scratched that and we thought to create our own video and get the kids involved. We made it on Monday night."

Muller created a YouTube video to champion his students' cause to bring King James to Howe Elementary. He talked about if James did accept this dare, it would have a major impact on the youngsters.

"As cool as it would be for me to meet LeBron James, I think the experience my kids would see would last them a lifetime," Muller said in the video. "They would see that someone came from the same situation or experiences that they're dealing with and are able to, you know, overcome those obstacles and just make the best out of their life, and take their talents to make the best out of their talents."

So, the only question remaining is -- LeBron, do you accept this challenge?
