Philadelphia College Of Osteopathic Medicine Announces Plan To Become Tobacco-free
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – PCOM is kicking tobacco to the curb.
The medical campus announced the decision on Friday.
"The move underscores the College's commitment to providing an environment that promotes and supports a healthy lifestyle," PCOM says, adding that the campus in Suwanee, Ga. will also be tobacco-less.
In Philadelphia, PCOM is the second college to implement such a policy. The school says going tobacco-free is more comprehensive than just smoke-free, as all tobacco products – cigars, cigarettes, pipes, chewing tobacco and more – are banned.
The launch date for the police is Feb. 1st, which school officials say was chosen to coincide with the start of National Heart Month.
