Philadelphia Chamber Music Society's Roschmann & Uchida Recital

By RJ McKay

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Miles Cohen, the artistic director of the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, shared some background on the recital with Dorothea Roschmann and Mitsuko Uchida on April 15th at the Perelman Theater.

"They have this infinite knowledge of the music, and the feelings of the love stories that are engulfing the poets, both Romantic poets Eichendorff and Chamisso, and then how that is interpreted through Schumann's music," Cohen said.

He also explained why Uchida and Roschmann are considered master interpreters of the evening's program.

"Mitsuko has careers playing with orchestras, she has careers playing solo repertoire, she has careers playing chamber music. And Dorothea has made a whole huge career for herself singing opera, singing with orchestras on a regular basis."
