Cooling Tower Malfunction Caused Fire At Center City High-Rise, Source Says

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A high-ranking Philadelphia Fire Department source has told CBS3's Joe Holden that a cooling tower malfunction caused the fire at the Commerce Square Office Building in Center City on Sunday. The fire that sent smoke billowing over Center City and the Philadelphia skyline was placed under control about 25 minutes after crews responded to the scene.

Fire officials said the fire happened at the Commerce Square building at 11:14 a.m. There were no injuries.

The dark smoke created a shocking sight for those in the city and on social media. CBS3 viewers shared photos of the smoke billowing over Center City.
