Philadelphia Cat Hoarder Charged With Animal Cruelty
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Authorities charged a man with animal cruelty after over a dozen cats were found in his Southwest Philadelphia home in filthy conditions.
The PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement charged 50 year-old William Miller for hoarding 15 cats and three newborn kittens at his home on the 7400 block of Elmwood Avenue.
While investigating another issue Saturday night, Philadelphia Police discovered the abundance of animals and feces inside the home. PSPCA officers then rescued the 18 cats before taking them back to the shelter. They say the home was covered in animal waste.
"They did blow it out of proportion a little bit," Miller told CBS3 Eyewitness News. "I mean, my house isn't the best in the world, but I'm willing to work with them and I'd like to get my house together."
The cats are said to be in good condition and will soon be available for adoption.
The investigation is ongoing and officers say that more charges are possible.
