Independence Mall Holds 80th Annual Wreath-Laying At Liberty Bell To Kick Off Black History Month

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- February is Black History month, and there was a kickoff event Tuesday morning at Independence Mall. Eyewitness News was at the 80th consecutive wreath-laying at the Liberty Bell in honor of National Freedom Day, which celebrates the abolishment of slavery in the United States.
A new exhibit at the bell called "Freedom on Trial" opened Tuesday.
It explores how some escaping slavery faced legal hearings for their freedom inside Independence Hall.
