Philadelphia Big 5 Announces 2015 Hall Of Fame Class

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Monday, the Philadelphia Big 5 announced that it will induct four new members into its Hall of Fame for 2015. The new group will be inducted on April 13th at the Big 5 Basketball Banquet held at the Palestra.

The 2015 Class includes Ugonna Onyekwe (Penn), Pepe Sanchez (Temple), Stan Hochman (media) and Bill Raftery who made it as a "special category," selection.

Hochman has covered sports for the Philadelphia Daily News since 1959 and is held in high regard among the Philadelphia sports media community.

Raftery graduated from La Salle in 1963. He went on to become a popular college basketball broadcaster who has worked for networks including ESPN, CBS and Fox Sports. Raftery played for La Salle from 1960-63 and led the team in scoring as a sophomore.

Onyekwe played four seasons for Penn (2000-2003) and was a first team All-Big 5 selection in both his junior and senior season. He was also a key player for Penn the last time they won the Big 5 Title (2001-02).

Onyekwe was a two-time Ivy League Player of the Year and was named All-Ivy League four times. He finished his career second all-time in scoring at Penn (1,762).

Sanchez played four seasons at Temple (1996-2000). While playing for the Owls, Sanchez was named Big 5 MVP in both his junior and senior season. He is also one of just six Temple players to be named an AP All-American when he made the third team in 1999-00.

John Chaney looked to Sanchez to set the table at Temple. He racked up 689 assists over his career and holds the school record for career assist per game average (5.9).

Sanchez won A-10 Conference Player of the Year in his final season with Temple. He was also a member of the 2004 Olympic Gold Medal winning Argentinian National Team.

Sanchez played a total of 38 games in the NBA between the Hawks, Sixers and Pistons. Since, Sanchez has played professionally overseas.
