Philadanco Presents 'Global Artisty' At Perelman Theater

By RJ McKay

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadanco presents "Global Artistry" April 15 through the 17 at the Perelman Theater.

Joan Myers-Brown, founder and artistic director, gives a preview.

"For Philadanco to do something new and exciting and since the world is global everything we do, even dance, I thought I'd bring in some artists from around the world to create work for Philadanco and surprise our people in Philadelphia that people around the world are all dancing."

Joan says of the choreographers, "I'm bringing Thang Dao, he's from Vietnam, Francisco Gella, from the Phillipines and a choreographer from the island Jamaica, David Brown. But, of course, you know we have to keep somebody from the United States, so I have a young African-American from Omaha, Nebraska, Ray Mercer.
