PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Nearly 50 deadbeat moms and dads were arrested this morning in a pre-dawn arrest raid by the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's office along with Philadelphia Police and authorities from Bucks County fanned out at 2:30 this morning, to bring in people who haven't been delivering as parents.

"We arrested over 45 people who were wanted for child support. Over $250,000 was owed in child support."

Sheriff Jewell Williams says these deadbeats are having a major negative impact on families.

"When there's not money coming into the household, the family fails. And sometimes families are homeless because people are not making their financial obligations."

He says many of those arrested were wearing their pajamas or less and they were all very surprised when the police came knocking.
