Phila. Park Ranger Hopes Pokemon Attracts To Sites, Entrepreneur Hopes To Drive You
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you're walking in circles looking for Pokemon, you may be able to find those creatures at Independence National Historic Park.
Park Rangers there and throughout the country are now embracing what's become the largest and most popular mobile game...ever.
Park Ranger Adama Duncan says he's seen dozens of people capturing the creatures at Independence Mall and like at other National Parks, Duncan believes the app will bring in a younger crowd to experience such historic sites. "It'll bring people down to some of the other sites that may not have as much visitation say as the Liberty Bell or Independence Hall," Duncan said.
"Certainly we encourage people, while they're chasing these monsters, to stop for a minute, take in the fresh air, take a look around and learn the place they're visiting."
The people doing the hunt could be brought to their location by avid player and budding entrepreneur John Yankanich.
"I've made $250 so far. I've had five people. Age varied from 18-25," Yankanich said. He's posted ads offering to chauffeur Pokemon hunters around the city. Two hours will cost you $50.
Yankanich's vehicle is outfitted with outlets, wifi and snacks.
