Person Struck, Killed On Train Tracks Near Philadelphia

MALVERN, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a person was struck and killed by a train near Philadelphia on Christmas morning.

Amtrak said the person was trespassing on the tracks in Chester County and was hit by a Keystone Service train at about 9:15 a.m. Friday.

Amtrak said there were 100 people on the train that was heading west from Philadelphia to Harrisburg, but no passengers or crew members were injured.

The train was held while authorities investigated, and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority suspended service on a section of the Paoli/Thorndale line.
