Snake Owner Bitten By Pet In Mayfair, May Lose Arm

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Officials with the Animal Care and Control Team say the owner of a rattlesnake was injured Sunday after he was bitten by the reptile.

Authorities got into the man's home on the 3500 block of Wellington Street in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia and found the venomous snake.

The man was taken to the hospital with a snakebite to the arm, and may have to have his arm amputated, the ACCT says.

It is unclear, however, exactly what condition he is in at this time.
