Pennsylvanians Are Staying Put
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – People from Pennsylvania don't move around much.
That's the takeaway from a new infographic created by The New York Times that aims to map migration in the United States.
According to the graphic, 74% of people living in the Keystone State in 2012 were born there, making Pa. residents the fourth least likely in the country to leave their native state.
And that's largely been the case since at least 1900, when 77% of Pennsylvanians were born in the state, and in 1950, when 80% stayed put.
Other states that tend to breed lifelong residents? Louisiana, Ohio and Michigan, as well as Mississippi, Wisconsin and Iowa.
On the other hand, just 36% of people living in Florida were born there, and only 25% of those in Nevada are natives.
