Pennsylvania To Impose New State Tax On Lottery Winnings

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Get ready to pay more to Pennsylvania if you ever get lucky enough to win the lottery in the state.

For the first time since the lottery launched, the state will keep a little more than three percent of winnings. To be exact, they will keep 3.07 percent on winnings over $5,000, before you collect your prize.

That new sum is on top of the 25 percent in federal taxes that are already taken out of it.

For all prizes of $600 or more, winners will get a W-2G form to submit with income taxes.
