Pennsylvania Senate Sends 'Revenge Porn' Bill To House

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - The state Senate has passed and sent the House a bill that would outlaw so-called "revenge porn".

The sponsor of the bill, Democrat Judy Schwank, says just five years ago she couldn't have imagined being before the state Senate to argue for legislation that would criminalize intimate partner harassment, or as some call it "revenge porn".

"However the growth and the use of mobile devices, the Internet, and now social media has unfortunately created an opportunity to wreak havoc in people's lives through the posting or sharing of intimate images," she said.

Schwenk's bill would impose a penalty of up to five years in prison if the victim is a minor, and up to two years if the victim is an adult, for anyone who exposes explicit images of an "intimate partner" to a third party for the intent of harassment. The measure now goes the House for consideration.
