PennDOT Says Emergency Pothole Repairs Are Underway

HARRISBURG, Pa., (CBS) – At recent budget hearings, the person in charge of keeping Pennsylvania's roads in top shape told lawmakers PennDOT's emergency pothole repairs have begun.

Leslie Richards – Governor Wolf's choice to helm PennDOT – is a former Whitemarsh Township official and former Montgomery County Commissioner.

"Both of those roles, I've gotten the calls of how to fill potholes, how to deal with road repairs. I think it's interesting – I started at the local level, that was the first question I got, at the county level, that was the first question I got, and now here at the state, this is one my main roles as well. And while we all joke about potholes, I take it very seriously," said Richards.

Richards says PennDOT emergency pothole repairs have already begun, starting with the Interstates. The spokesman for PennDOT says last winter was more brutal from a snow standpoint, but as far as potholes go, it's too soon to tell because they seem to be forming later this year.
