PennDOT: I-95 Night Construction Scheduled Next Week In Philadelphia
PHILADLEPHIA (CBS) -- Drivers will face travel restrictions at night along Interstate 95 next week at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
PennDOT says the operations are associated with construction taking place to rebuild the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges, and reconstruct and widen more than three miles of I-95 adjoining the interchanges.
On Sunday, Nov. 1, through Saturday, Nov. 7, PennDOT says I-95 north will be reduced from three lanes to two between the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
During this operation, PennDOT says the Princeton Avenue on-ramp to I-95 north will be closed each night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists normally using the ramp will be detoured north on State Road, left on Linden Avenue, then right at the ramp to I-95 north at the Academy Road Interchange, according to PennDOT.
On Sunday, Nov. 1, through Saturday, Nov. 7, the I-95 north off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73) will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, according to PennDOT. They say motorists will be detoured north on I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on Linden Avenue, and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73).
On Monday, Nov. 2, through Friday, November 6, PennDOT says I-95 north will be reduced from three lanes to two and I-95 south will be reduced from four lanes to three between the Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue interchanges from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.
PennDOT says I-95 motorists should expect to encounter slowdowns entering the work zones during the nighttime operations.
The operations are weather dependent.
