Penn Falls To George Mason 80-77

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Bryon Allen scored a career-high 24 points, leading George Mason to an 80-77 win over Penn Thursday night.

Following a pair of free throws by Allen, Tony Hicks knocked down a 3-pointer with 12 seconds to play, capping an 11-3 run, to pull Penn (2-9) within 80-77. Johnny Williams then missed two free throws, giving the Quakers life. But Hicks missed a 3-pointer with 1 second to play and Marquise Moore pulled down the rebound to seal the victory for George Mason.

Fran Dougherty's jumper with 13:33 remaining tied the game at 53, but Patrick Holloway's 3-pointer sparked a 17-6 run by the Patriots (7-6), opening up a 70-59 lead and, ultimately, putting the game out of reach.

Holloway chipped in 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and Jalen Jenkins added 10 for George Mason.

Hicks paced the Quakers with 23 points while Dougherty finished with 17 points and eight boards.
