Pedro Ramos To Take Over As President Of The Philadelphia Foundation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A prominent Philadelphian takes on a new role next month, as head of a major philanthropic organization.
From city managing director to head of the School Reform Commission, Pedro Ramos says he's probably seen as much of the city as any resident.
He plans to use his 23 years of experience across the business, government and nonprofit sectors in his new position.
Ramos takes over next month as president and CEO of the Philadelphia Foundation, a public charity that gives away about $20 million a year in scholarships and grants.
"For me, this is an opportunity to reinvest what I've gained in that career back into the community," said Ramos, "hopefully in a way that will have great lasting effect."
The 50-year-old Ramos is leaving his current position as a partner in the law firm Schader Harrison Segal & Lewis.
He says he'll begin his new job by doing an assessment of the Foundation and by starting a listening tour among donors and grantees.
