WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) - New Castle County Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred early Sunday morning in Wilmington, Delaware.

This happened just after 1 a.m. near the intersection of Milltown Road at Heritage Park.

Police say a group of four friends were walking on the road when a car driven by 55-year-old Robert Hickson struck two of the men.

The two victims – 19-year-old Stephen Daverio and 20 year old Kevin Wiercyski – were taken to Christiana Hospital. Daverio was pronounced dead at the hospital. Wiercyski was treated and released for minor injuries.

A preliminary investigation shows Hickson was under the influence of alcohol during the time of the collision. He has been taken into custody and charges are pending.

The accident remains under investigation.
