Pedestrian Killed By Suspected DUI Driver In Northeast Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A pedestrian who was crossing Roosevelt Boulevard was struck and killed by a driver suspected of driving under the influence in Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. Saturday night in the southbound lanes of the Boulevard at Faunce Street in the city's Lexington Park section.

Police say a 2010 Kia Soul was travelling through the intersection when the driver struck a 73-year-old man who was crossing against the light.

The driver stopped and called 911.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 40-year-old motorist, who'd stayed at the scene of the accident, was arrested for driving under the influence.
