PECO Working Around The Clock To Restore Power To Residents

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- PECO says it's an all hands on deck effort as they work to restore electricity.

"We had 200 local contractors join our crews to assist with restoration efforts. In addition to that, we have 500 field personal to who are coming from utilities from Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and New York."

But PECO officials say power restoration is going to take some time.

"We do expect a majority of customers will have their service restored by Friday evening."

Now a state of emergency has been declared in Delaware County.

To help assist, officials set up an emergency shelter at the Brookhaven Borough Hall.

They are offering a place for residents to cool off and charge their phones

There are several other cooling and charging stations set up throughout the Delaware Valley.
