PAFA Now Showing 'Procession: The Art Of Norman Lewis'

By RJ McKay

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts is now showing, "Procession: The Art of Norman Lewis" until April 3.
Ruth Fine, curator of the exhibit, explains what you'll see.

"The procession exhibition includes 90 works, approximately 60 paintings and 30 works on paper that go from figurative to abstract to a combination of figurative and abstract."

Ruth also discussed Norman Lewis' arts and its appeal.

"I think Lewis has a unique distinction of combining issues that were very important to the white community at the time he was alive, and to the black community at the time he was alive, so that there is a layered complexity to the work that's not visible in the work of many other artists."
