PA Water Company Investigates Sinkhole, Main Break In Berks County

WYOMISSING, Pa. (CBS) -- A water main break occurred in Wyomissing, Berks County on Wednesday morning, leaving several customers without water.

According to Pennsylvania American Water, eight homes and two businesses were left without service after the break occurred on the 300 block of Abington Drive.

The company said those residences and businesses will not have service until they can complete repairs on the pipe. Those repairs are expected to be completed on Wednesday night, restoring services to those places.

The customers impacted by the break received bottle water to serve their needs until their water comes back on.

Pennsylvania American Water is still trying to figure out how a sinkhole occurred and whether or not the sinkhole caused the break in the main.

New gas lines were put in in the same area, two days ago, according to Pennsylvania American Water and they are working to find out if there was a connection.
