PA Man Jailed On Charges He Mailed Vulgar Cards

CARNEGIE, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he sent vulgar greeting cards to a widower neighbor and his 6-year-old.

Scott Township police have charged 61-year-old Richard Porchiran with stalking and harassment

He allegedly sent the cards to a man whose wife died several years ago of an aneurism after giving birth to their son. Some mailings were sympathy cards, while another was a birthday card for the boy.

While the cards were normal, the messages written inside were hateful and vulgar. Some cards even contained vulgar messages written on the dead wife's obituary and memorial.

Police traced the cards to Porchiran using surveillance video from a store where they were purchased.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Porchiran, who faces a preliminary hearing March 31.
