Pa. DAs Testify On Kane Law License Suspension

HARRISBURG, Pa., (CBS) -- A district attorney from western Pennsylvania told a special state Senate committee today that the suspension of Attorney General's Kathleen Kane's law license has the potential for a 'tremendous ripple effect across the state.'

The Senate committee is examining whether Kathleen Kane can function as attorney general with a suspended law license. Lisa Lazzari-Strasiser, a Democrat from Somerset County, was one of three district attorneys who testified Monday. The DA's were asked about the impact of the Kane's law license suspension. Lazzari-Strasiser said she was concerned about whether her county's joint drug task force, operated with the attorney general's office, can legally continue.

"Considering the ripple effect of the ability to ultimately prosecute those cases where you are utilizing the attorney general funds and resources."

After the hearing, the chairman of the Senate committee said he expects to have another hearing next week, with testimony from experts on the constitutional issues related to possibly removing Kane from office.
