PA Convention Center Provides Nursing Room For Moms

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's another "win" for breast-feeding mothers. The Pennsylvania Convention Center now has a portable nursing room for visitors.

It's called a portable Nursing suite and measures about 8-by-8 square feet. It is enough room to nurse a baby comfortably or use breast pumps discreetly.

"We're a very public space, so there aren't a lot of spaces where you could hide and be discreet." said Lorenz Hassenstein, the general manager of the Convention Center. "So we thought this would be a nice addition and several customers in the past have requested a room like this."

He says the room is portable so it can be moved from one end of the convention center to another, depending on what kind of events are in town.

The nursing suite will officially go into service at the 2015 BIO International Convention beginning Monday.
