Evacuations Lifted After Massive Fuel Spill In Warrington Twp.

WARRINGTON, Pa. (CBS) – A massive fuel spill in Warrington Twp.  has been deemed safe and now nearby residents can return to their homes this morning.

It happened at Rt. 611 and Freedoms Way around 8:10 p.m. when a fuel tanker truck overturned.

About 60 residents who were evacuated to the Tamanend Middle School have returned back to their homes at about 3 a.m. Friday.

Officials say about 4,000 gallons of gasoline spilled when it was involved in an accident with a white pickup truck. The drivers of both the tanker and the pickup trucks received minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Residents may notice an odor of gasoline in the area while crews continue their cleanup procedure.
