Openly Gay Man Addresses GOP Convention On Night Trump Accepts Nomination

CLEVELAND, OH (CBS) -- The Republican National Convention wrapped up last night, with Donald Trump accepting the nomination. And, for the first time at a Republican convention, an openly gay man addressed the crowd saying irrelevant culture wars are distracting from real issues.

Entrepreneur and venture capitalist, co-founder of PayPal Peter Thiel addressed the crowd at the Republican National Convention, getting a standing ovation.

"I am proud to be gay, I am proud to be an Republican, but most of all I am proud to be an American."

Thiel went on to say he doesn't pretend to agree with every plank in the GOP platform, but fake culture wars only distract us from our economic decline, and nobody in this race is being honest about it except Donald Trump.

When his turn came, Donald Trump went on the attack, calling Hillary Clinton's legacy "death, destruction and weakness, " adding Americanism not globalism will be our credo.
