One Simulation Says Sixers Will Start 0-54
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Just let it end, please. Stop the losing!
The Sixers have begun the 2014-15 season with 17 straight losses and with an 18th straight loss, Philadelphia's basketball team will tie the NBA record for most consecutive losses to start a season.
Fivethirtyeight.com did 1,000 simulations to determine when the Sixers' historic losing streak will end and one simulation actually predicts a horrid 0-54 start. While that is obviously unlikely, it's also incredibly frightening.
Positively, the losing streak averages a length of 20.7 games and the streak ends within the next three games 60 percent of the time. Furthermore, the most common simulation has the Sixers actually winning their next game in Minnesota against the Timberwolves, on Wednesday night.
