Man Shot Dead After Talking To Local Political Candidate

By Andrew Kramer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot in Philadelphia's Cedarbrook neighborhood Sunday afternoon, what appears to be moments after speaking with a local political candidate.

Police say the 21-year-old victim was shot twice in the head around 3:30 p.m. near Fayette Street and Vernon Road.

Paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene.

A member of Pennsylvania Representative candidate Chris Rabb's campaign says the politician had just spoken with the victim when the shooting took place.

A member of his staff was said to be talking to the victim when the shooting happened.

Nobody involved in the campaign was injured.

The gunman, last seen running up Fayette Street, is still on the loose. Police describe him as a 6'0 tall black man wearing a light grey hoodie.

Authorities say the shooting may be gang related and linked to another shooting on Temple Road, which is just a short distance away.

Police say it may be retaliation for the shooting on Vernon Road.
