Officials ID Victim, Suspect In Fatal Bensalem Fire

BENSALEM, PA (CBS) – Officials in Bucks County will charge 46 year old Kevin Small of Philadelphia with criminal homicide, arson, and other related charges. Officials believe Small is responsible for a fatal fire that took place at a motel in Bensalem.

Authorities say one person was found dead at the scene, while an undisclosed number of victims were treated for minor smoke inhalation before being transported to Aria Health in Torresdale.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. at the Lincoln Motel on the 2200 block of Lincoln Highway. Upon arrival a fully evolved fire was found on the first floor of the motel.

Officials say it took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

The victim has been identified as 46 year old Mellissa Bacon-Smith of Philadelphia.

Small will be arraigned between 4 and 5 p.m on Sunday.
