Officials Identify Teenage Girl Who Died During Sleepover In South Jersey

SEWELL, N.J. (AP) — Officials have released the name of a teenage girl who died while attending a sleepover with her soccer teammates at a southern New Jersey home.

But it still not known what caused the death of 14-year-old Kara Lemanowicz.

Authorities say the Voorhees girl apparently died in her sleep. She and her teammates had spent the night outside in a tent at a Sewell home, and the teen was unresponsive when her friends tried to wake her Saturday morning.

She was pronounced dead there a short time later.

The death is not considered suspicious and no drug or alcohol use is suspected. Authorities believe a medical condition may have caused the death, but further details have not been disclosed.
