Officials: Horse Trapped In Mud In South Jersey Freed After Nearly Two Hours
BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ (CBS) -- According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, a horse had to be rescued after it got trapped in the mud in Burlington County for about an hour and a half Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say a couple of horseback riders were on the Batona Trail when one of the horses walked into a muddy area and got stuck.
New Jersey State Park Police, New Jersey Forest Fire Service, a veterinary team and the Green Bank EMS all responded to the scene to help.
Officials say they strapped the horse to pull it out of the deep mud, and in the process the horse kicked one of the EMS workers in the head.
The worker was taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
The horse was freed, unharmed, after almost two hours.
