PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A cause of death has been determined in the case of a DUI suspect who died Friday night while in police custody.

Officials with the Philadelphia Department of Health say 29-year-old Daniel Wichterman died of "accidental drug intoxication."

The Northeast Philadelphia man was arrested Friday afternoon for driving under the influence, after an accident in the 2700 block of Holme Avenue.  He was taken to the detention unit at police headquarters in center city for processing, and placed in a cell with another prisoner.

Later that night, Wichterman was found unresponsive.  A unit nurse performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Wichterman was taken to Hahnemann Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 11:30pm.
