Officials Continue Investigation Into Massive Philly Warehouse Fire

By Tim Jimenez, Justin Finch

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A three-alarm fire at a Southwest Philadelphia warehouse left a firefighter injured Wednesday night and investigators are now working to determine the cause of the fire.

Firetrucks remained on the scene overnight, even with the huge flames out. The fire ripped through an abandoned warehouse at 71st and Kingsessing Avenue.

A stubborn situation, the fire wasn't placed under control until late at night, hours after the 9-1-1 calls first came in at 8:30 p.m.

Fire officials would call for three alarms. The one person hurt, officials say, is a firefighter with minor injuries.

Public records show the warehouse measures more than 60,000 square feet.

There are homes and businesses near the warehouse, but they were not damaged.

Traffic remained blocked in the area Thursday morning.
