Officials: Christmas Trees Can Be Pretty, But They Can Also Be Dangerous

BOOTHWYN, Pa. (CBS) --  It's the most wonderful time of the year -- but authorities want to make sure a small mishap won't ruin the holiday fun.

Local firefighters from the Ogden Fire Company in Delaware County teamed up with AAA for a Christmas tree safety demonstration.

They're warning the public to properly tie a tree to your car, and to carefully monitor the trees and its lights to avoid fires!

There's an average of 210 home fires per year that start with Christmas trees.

When these fires occur, they are much more likely to be deadly than most other fires.
