Officials: Allentown Building Evacuated Due To Carbon Monoxide Detection

ALLENTOWN, Pa., (CBS) – Fire officials tell Eyewitness News a high-rise building in Allentown has been evacuated due to detection of carbon monoxide on more than three stories of the building.

Crews responded Monday to the 1400 block of Walnut Street.

Officials say the 20-story building houses about 250 residents.

According to officials, no one has been severely affected or taken to the hospital, but one person was treated by medics on scene.

Officials say alternate shelter is being organized as it is likely residents will not be allowed back into their homes until the building has been cleared of all traces of carbon monoxide and the cause has been determined and corrected.

The fire department is investigating the source and cause of the carbon monoxide leak.
