Officers Injured In Northeast Philly Crash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two officers and a civilian were injured in a crash in Northeast Philadelphia Friday.

The incident happened shortly before noon at Herbert and Large Streets.

According to investigators, the incident began when two 15th District officers in a marked police SUV tried to pull over a driver for a traffic violation.

Police say the driver did not pull over and began to lead the officers on a brief pursuit.

At some point during the pursuit, the police SUV and another civilian car, not involved in the pursuit, collided.

The impact of the crash sent the police SUV onto a sidewalk.

Police say the third vehicle, originally being pursued, was eventually pulled over.

The occupants were questioned -- and released.

The officers were taken to Temple University Hospital where they are listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The individual in the civilian car was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

The incident remains under investigation.
