MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – An off-duty New Jersey state trooper made a special delivery Friday on his way home from work.

Authorities say State Police Sergeant Sean Boag delivered a baby girl on the side of northbound express lanes of the Garden State Parkway in Middletown Township.

Police say the expecting Lakewood couple were on their way to a hospital in New Brunswick around 4 p.m. when the baby decided she would not wait any longer. The husband pulled his vehicle off to the side of the road and called 911.

Sergeant Boag quickly arrived at the scene where he helped the expecting mother deliver a healthy baby girl.

Mom and baby were transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank where they were doing well.
