Obama: 'Not A Moment During My Presidency I Haven't Felt Responsible'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- President Barack Obama gave his final news conference of the year Friday afternoon.

While speaking, Obama said he felt responsible for a lot of the "horrible things that are happening around the world because of my office."

He said he questions every day if there is more he could do to save lives and make a difference and "spare a child who doesn't deserve to suffer."

"There isn't a moment during the course of this presidency I haven't felt some responsibility. That's true for our own country," he said.

"When I came into office and people were losing their jobs, their homes and their pensions, I felt responsible. I would go home at night and ask myself 'was there something better I could do or smarter I could be?'"

Obama said when it comes to Syria he has taken 'the best course I can to try to end the civil war while taking into account the longtime national security interest of the United States."
