Nutter Embarks On Week-Long Trip To Germany And Israel

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Mayor Nutter's globe-trotting ways continue today as he leaves for a week-long trip to Germany and Israel.

The first stop for Mayor Nutter is the city of Frankfurt, Germany, which is establishing a Sister City relationship with Philadelphia. Then on Friday he'll go to Tel Aviv, according to Luke Butler of the Commerce Department.

"He'll work with Israeli companies that have already committed to opening an office in Philadelphia, to recruit even more Israeli companies to come to the city," Butler says.

The mayor's frequent travels have prompted criticism from some parts, but Butler says cities need more than a regional outlook.

"And using the Israeli companies that have already committed to move to Philadelphia as a result of the mayor's outreach demonstrates the success and importance of these kinds of efforts," he says.
